During a project involving 144 piles, challenges arose from a week-long excavation delay and initial installation issues due to excavation errors.

Despite a fixed crane schedule and unexpected pile depth requirements, emergency resources were quickly sourced. Through internal negotiations, additional costs weren’t passed to the First Nations, and the project was completed on time for modular building placements.

  • 144 piles as deep as 50 feet.
  • 1 full week delay due to excavation contractor taking longer than expected.
  • Government and news media present at various times through out.
  • Errors in site prep by excavation contractors caused difficult installation in first 4 feet. (Difficult to keep pile in the correct spot).
  • Crane schedule set and could not be changed. Very tight time line due to the delays in beginning by excavation contractors.
  • We worked from daylight to dark every day.
  • Some Piles went 100% deeper than expected. Emergency loads of extensions ordered and fast tracked from AB within 2 days delivered to site. Cost override was negotiated between valley and modular contractor and not passed on to the First Nations.
  • Install completed just on time for placement of modular buildings.
