The homeowner wanted to install a large overhead canopy system to shelter the deck from the elements.
The 30ft x 20ft canopy needed to be architecturally pleasing and was cantilevered. Because of the huge wind load and silty Richmond soil profile, sauna tubing wasn’t enough for long-term stability.
16 piles were driven 18′ deep in a battered (bottoms angled away from each other) formation to provide maximum strength.
This installation was accomplished in a confined space near the executive home, on a perfectly manicured lawn (untouched), over a stamped concrete driveway and marble sidewalk (without a mark), and through a gate and up 2 sets of stairs.
